We just returned from a great trip to South Africa where we had our first (unofficial) wedding. It was great to spend time with our family and so many friends.

We made a list of things we need; we have chosen items from 2 shops, Next and British Home Stores, and if you use the lists below there should be no confusion over who buys what or which gifts have already been bought.

• Shop online: go to nextweddings.co.uk and find our list by typing our wedding list number (59883550), or type our surnames. Please note the above website does not store our address so deliver to: 28 Windmill court, Wombwell, Barnsley, S73 8PN.
• Buy in your local store: simply go into your local Next store and buy any item off our list (remeber to take the list number).
• Or buy on the phone: call 0870 142 4141, keeping our wedding list details ready.

We also have a list with British Homes Stores, so to buy a gift from there simply call 0161 486 9033, quoting the gift list number: 239003.

- If you are travelling far we'd like to assist you in finding accommodation. A few friends who live locally have said they might be able to offer a room in their house, but you can also find cheap hotel offers by booking early (Travellodge currently have discounted rooms available for 5th or 6th Jan for £26, instead of the usual £55, in their Manchester Central branch).

• Bargain alert! Travellodge (Manchester Airport) is doing a great offer, book quickly: £15 per room!

We're engaged!!

It's official everyone, we are now fiancés!

I know a lot of people are simply saying 'finally', but we are more excited than anyone ever before!!

Here's how it happened: on saturday we 'got lost' for nearly an hour and a half on country lanes (all part of eug's master plan) and out of the blue we found a castle, down a long straight road with two long lines of tall trees.


At the castle they'd prepared our private dining room just for the two of us with a candle-light dinner, personal waiter and a deliiiiiicous 3 (or 4?) course meal! Our waiter was excellent, he treated us like a prince and princess in our castle; he prepared the dining room, put on some nice music, and played our song just at the right time, and even brought in the ring, and he presented us with a bottle of good champaigne with compliments from the staff. how cool is that!?

It didn't all go that smoothly, as young miss Trueman was in tears and needed some good old fashioned TLC, and 'the question' had to be repeated 5 times, but we got there in the end.

The ring is only a temporary ring (a little handmade one), but we are getting one made.

Technically nothing has changed between us, but man it is such a good feeling to be engaged :)
